A goal achieved...or not yet?


My treadmill, my brand new gym ball, and my purple hula hoop and my knitting on the couch... in front of the T.V. (Just a pic to remind me of my active and not so active activities this winter.)

Blog readers might recall that losing weight (again) was one of my goals in the beginning of the year. I am very grateful that I have managed to lose 5 kg since then. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't shake off more than 1 kg a month. My portions have been minute (at least I think so), I drink gallons of water (hot and ice cold) and I gym at least 4 times a week and I exercise at home as well. And I have fallen in love with a meal replacement. USN Diet Fuel, Ultra-lean, low G.I meal replacement mixed with yoghurt makes a great....dessert! (Ha, ha)

Since school closed last week, I couldn't go to gym, but I average about 7 km per day on the old treadmill in my bedroom and I exercise a lot on the gym ball. And I hula again! For the first time in about 50 years! It is great fun. This morning I succeeded with 300 revolutions non stop. Thelwyn swears by a hula hoop and so I bought one. However, when I first started, I was absolutely exhausted after 3 or 4 attempts, but now I just take it in my stride. My muscles are getting harder, but the slim waistline I dreamed of is still eluding me.

Anyway I feel much healthier, and am glad to fit in (some of) my old clothes again. When I wake up, I can't wait to get onto the scale and to measure my waist and my hips. (The obsession with the tape measure has started because my (electronic) scale is very unreliable, but a measuring tape can't lie.) At the beginning of the year I felt, if only I could lose 3 kg... but 5 kg later I still feel if only I could lose 3 kg more... I look at my face and see the wrinkles and think... I shouldn't get any thinner, but then I look in the mirror and I think...if only I could lose 3 kg!! At the gym an (overweight) friend also said if only she could lose 3 kg. What is it with us and the magical 3 kg.?

And then I hear a voice: True beauty comes from within. Just be thankful you are healthy and have an able body!

Housework is waiting! I guess if I lift my but and get going with a vacuum cleaner, it would also burn more calories than blogging! Have a great day!

Muriel, ek lees nou net op jou blog dat jy koud kry. Hier is goeie raad: hula gou so 'n bietjie - dit maak jou gou lekker warm sonder om te sweet. My hande vries nou hier waar ek tik op die rekenaar - moet regtig aan die gang kom!

Ai, jy het nou 'n lekker glimlag op my bakkies gesit. Onthou: Its better to be out of shape and fit than in shape and unfit ... so jy is op die regte pad. Onthou ook dat dit gaan nie oor hoe min ons eet nie, maar wat ons eet nl. dames moet die volgende balans daagliks inkry:
5 koolhidrate (pampoen, ertjies, mielies is ook koolhidrate en nie groete soos baie van ons dink nie
2 vrugte
2 proteiene
2 suiwel
3 vette
4 groente (ten minste, maar meer is dalk beter)
2 liter water
Ek en my man is sedert Maart hierdie jaar op 'n eetplan in samewerking met 'n dieetkundige. Ons eet baie meer as gewoonlik en ons verloor so 500g per week.
Sterkte daar.

Hi Desire
Dankie vir die info! Ek eet omtrent 5-6 vrugte 'n dag - moet dit seker minder maak en met tamaties vervang vir 'n snack. Ek's soet wat die water betref - drink glad nie koffie of tee nie, maar kookwater en as ek in die motor ry of oefen drink ek liters koue water - die water van die plaas is heerlik. Tel 2 bakkies joghurt as suiwel? Ek eet 'n eier soggens en 'n klein porsie vleis of vis saans. Het nie geweet pampoen is 'n stysel nie.

Miekie, whahahaha ek oefen girl maar ai! dit help niks vir die koue nie! So paar ure daarna vries ek weer op! En dis 'n getande klap! (Ek dink dis maar net omdat ek nog nie heeltemal gesond is nie, maar ek het weer so liggies begin oefen)

Baie geluk met die kilo's wat jy afgeskud het. Dis baie en ek is seker jy gaan nog baie meer verloor. Jy is sommer lekker inspirasie vir my! Moet assebliefffff nie stop nie.

Ek is ook mal oor my USN shake, en dit maak mens regtig versadig.

Weet van die stryd...(aanhoudend van aard...) En ja, die plooie word al meer, na gelang van die gewig wat iewers anders verdwyn...dis sleg!

Maar groot hoera vir die gewigsverlies!!

Congratulations on your accomplishments! I'm trying to get fit myself & make some changes that are permanent rather than "quick fixes." Sweets are my downfall!

Dis altyd lekker as mens se pogings begin vrugte afwerp. Sterkte lyk asof jy dit geniet ook. Miskien moet ek en die Wii ook maar weer maats maak, daar is ook hula-hoop op.

Geluk met die 5kg wat jy afgeskud het! (nie verloor het nie, want dit kan impliseer dat jy dit soek en wil terughe, het ek iewers gelees!)
Ek probeer nou maar om elke dag minstens 12 000 tree te stap; indien dit nie so uitwerk met alledaagse aktiwiteite nie, probeer ek dit opmaak op die trapmeul. Wat 'n stryd! (vir my)
