Several babies, older children and adults got baptized in this congregation today. Family could join the parents at the font. Here are the proud parents just after Martelize was baptized. The "dominee" used water quite liberally and Martelize opened her eyes when her forehead got soaked, but she closed them right away again and SLEPT right through the whole ceremony.
After the service at the church. It was good to see so many friends and family there and greet the ones who could not make it to the tea party at their house
At the party: Three generations: Jan, Thelwyn, Martelize and Miekie
Martelize wore the dress I had made for Thelwyn's christening. I had made the dress after a picture in a Burda magazine that Lalie had brought me from Germany while I was still pregnant with Thelwyn. Martelize looked just as pretty as Thelwyn had, but like Thelwyn, she was unimpressed with the long dress and all the fuss. So just after this picture was taken, Thelwyn dressed her in her specially made short purple dress!
Colour co-ordinated Mommy and drowsy daughter.
Thelwyn made this pretty purple party dress for Martelize. The dress is made out of cool cotton, but the overskirt is sequined organza. I am sure this is the first of many party dresses! (A little later, Thelwyn dressed her in a very cool white cotton sundress which she had bought yesterday in anticipation of today's hot weather.) Who else has 3 dresses lined up for a party!
Martelize, you are the answer to many, many prayers. Today has been a very special day. Your parents have made a pledge to teach you the ways of the Lord. We pray that you will grow up loving the Lord and honouring your parents. God has something special planned for you! May you be blessed greatly!

"Watch your legs where they kick...."
Hierdie tannie is BAIE trots...
